About this Program
.Register now for a special linear program that focuses on developing the cognitive skills for non-native speakers of Arabic to help them read, understand, and synthesize the language of the Holy Qur’an while minimizing their dependence on translation. It is delivered through a substantially applied approach whereby Arabic vocabulary and grammar which participants are introduced to are reinforced by practical examples that come exclusively from the Qur’an. Participants are offered hands-on sessions for discussing, analyzing, and comprehending the verses of the Qur’an; understanding the functional and pragmatic meanings of different Qura’nic structures; and understanding denotative versus metaphorical meanings of vocabulary items and idiomatic expressions to enhance comprehension. The goal is to help participants approach entire suras, or stretches of ayahs, in Arabic and be able to cognitively process them. Participants are also trained to use online resources that further help them with proper pronunciation and clear understanding of the Holy Qur’an.
If you find it difficult to cover the fees and require financial assistance, please apply for a fee waiver at this link: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/SgK4L85X41
Topics • Verbal and nominal Arabic sentences. • Types of predicates in nominal sentence and how figuring them out enhances comprehension. • Tracing the second object of a ditransitive verb to interpret sentences properly and make complete sense of Qur’anic Ayahs. • Retrieving implicit/hidden object pronouns to decipher meaning, which helps interpret Qur’anic Ayahs. • Qur’anic texts for hands-on practice (reading and analysis).
(1) To have completed level 2 of the same program before. OR (2) to have a proficiency level of Arabic that allows you to understand some of the individual components that are structured together to make an ayah, and know the meaning of some of its words.
• Taking the learning process to a more advanced level where participants approach entire surahs or long ayahs on a macro level: understanding the meaning within context, analyzing structure, coming up with synonyms and antonyms, and answering comprehension questions to check understanding using the Arabic language. • Enabling participants to use their internalized knowledge of the language to make educated guesses that enhance their understanding of the Holy Qur’an. • Training participants to recognize more complex Arabic structures of the Holy Qur’an through instruction and guided reading that draw their attention to compound and embedded sentences.
