Riaya Young Adult Stewardship Program 2026
Important Dates
- Learning: To provide young Muslim women with the historical and political understanding of Islam and contemporary Muslim societies so they can better understand their socio-political context and engage with it in an informed way.
- Capacity Building: To provide young Muslim women with a support network, practical knowledge, skills, and tools to navigate current times and lead their communities into a future wherein Muslim women are fully engaged and enjoy full representation and participation in society.
The program will offer classes for specialized intellectual learning and workshops and enrichment activities for practical capacity building skills. All classes and activities are approached from the lens of Muslim communities, especially women, and their participation and representation in society in a way that is purposeful and rooted in their contemporary context. Upon completing the program, participants will have gained:
- A better understanding of contemporary Muslim societies and the development of Muslim identities.
- Stronger critical thinking, logical reasoning, public speaking, writing, and other life skills necessary for success in university and beyond.
- Broad intercultural exposure and exchanges with Muslim women from diverse backgrounds.
- Deeper knowledge of the challenges faced by the global south and implications for the development of Muslim communities.
- Relevant information and exposure to fast-changing technological trends across the global workforce.
Students will receive a certificate from Al-Mujadilah upon completion of the program.
- The program will be two weeks long.
- Participants will attend four courses.
- Capacity-building workshops will be organized to provide academic and professional development skills.
- Courses and workshops will be bolstered by field trips and hands-on community development projects.
The participants will receive education from Muslim scholars and experts from Qatar and around the world on a variety of topics related to Islam’s values, its rich history, and contemporary Muslim societies. To that end, courses can cover a range of topics including evolution of Muslim societies over time under colonialism, orientalism, and Islamophobia, to global challenges and trends such as artificial intelligence, climate change, food insecurity, conflict, and political intolerance.
- Young Muslim women ages 17-22
- English proficiency
- Valid Qatar ID and/or national ID/passport for international students
- Academic transcripts with no failing grades.
- Candidates from low to middle-income backgrounds or conflict or calamity-hit regions are highly encouraged to apply.
- All candidates must be able to submit a consent form signed by a parent or guardian agreeing for the candidate to attend the program.
9 am to 5 pm
Age group 17-22.
Applicant should be a college or university student.
Qatari and non-Qatari students based in Qatar, and outside Qatar are eligible to apply.
The tuition cost of the program is QAR 8,000. An additional QAR 6,000 will be charged to cover travel, health insurance, boarding, and lodging.
Successful applicants qualifying for financial assistance will receive partial or full assistance.
The program classes will be arranged at Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women, Doha, Qatar. All participants will go on supervised field trips in transportation arranged by Al-Mujadilah. All international students will stay in safe accommodations, also arranged by Al-Mujadilah.
