Towards a Balanced Sense of Self
About this Program
Join Dr. Hanan Ahmed Al Qattan, who will lead a two-day intensive program designed to support Muslim women develop a balanced personality through practical tools that encourage self-exploration and foster balanced self-esteem.
Rooted in the teachings of the Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH), and contemporary science, the program will cover four key themes, each consisting of three sub-themes for participants to explore
Theme 1. Understanding the Self and the Components of Healthy Self-Worth in the Qur’an and Sunnah
- Defining a healthy sense of self and its core components, including self- acceptance, competence, guidance, and confidence.
- Differentiating between a healthy, unhealthy, and inflated sense of self.
- Understanding the factors that influence the development of self and personality, including family, life experiences, and society.
Theme 2. Identifying and Replacing Negative Beliefs
- How to recognize negative self-beliefs.
- Understanding the role of inner dialogue in both building and undermining the self.
- Practical tools to shift pessimistic thinking to positive thinking.
Theme 3. Developing Behaviors that Support a Healthy Sense of Self
- Practicing self-compassion, forgiveness, and handling mistakes.
- Recognizing the importance of setting healthy boundaries, acknowledging one’s accomplishments, and evaluating them.
- Building daily habits that nurture and elevate the self, through assessment, achievement, and organization.
Theme 4. The Role of One’s Sense of Self in Interpersonal Relationships and Daily Life
- Exploring how one’s sense of self impacts interpersonal relationships.
- Understanding the difference between self-esteem and reliance on external validation.
- Strengthening self-confidence to face destructive criticism and challenges.
