Join Dr. Aroub Al Qattan in conversation with Dr. Maha Al Rumaihi for an interactive seminar exploring the importance of social-emotional learning (SEL) in shaping children’s awareness and behaviour. Our esteemed speakers will highlight the pivotal role of parents in meeting their children’s emotional and cognitive needs.
Seminar themes
Designed with mothers in mind, and open to Muslim women interested in learning more about parenting and education, this seminar will explore key themes, including:
•Children in the Fast-Paced Era: Insights on understanding and communicating with the “screen generation”.
•The Power of Dialogue and Listening: Building strong emotional bonds, trust, and nurturing psychological balance.
•The Language of Dialogue and Emotional Learning as a Gateway to Instilling Values: Discovering the daily opportunities for education through interaction.
•Social and Emotional: Understanding the impact of emotional neglect on a child’s behavioral and personality development.
•The Role of Mothers and Caregivers: Defining the priorities within balanced and supportive parenting.

Dr. Aroub Al-Qattan
Bachelor's degree with honors from Kuwait University Faculty of Education – 1999.
2003-2008 a Master's Degree and PhD in Education - Leadership and Quality of Education - Family and Psychological Counselling Support from Newcastle University in the UK.
Faculty member in the Department of Educational Fundamentals and Administration - College of Basic Education in the State of Kuwait.
Director of the Advisory Office at Itizan Center for Consulting and Training.
Former Director of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Office of the College of Basic Education.
Family Consultant, Pedagogical Expert, Trainer and Certified International Arbitrator - 23 Years of Experience.
Member of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Teachers Association for two consecutive terms - 2011 - 2013.
Recipient of the award for the best educational project in Kuwait from the International Al-Kharafi Award – 2013.
Accredited Educational Adviser at the International Schools Federation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) since 2017.
Holding a Diploma in Family Counselling and Mental Health and Diploma in Effective Education Strategies.
Educational Development, affiliated with the National Center for Educational Development - State of Kuwait.
Family counselor and certified educational expert.
Founding member of Balsam Team for Voluntary Psychological and Educational Support.

Dr. Maha Al Romaihi
Dr. Al Romaihi won the Qatar University “Young Alumni Award” in 2009 for her contributions to education and society and to recognize her achievements as an educator and role model as a successful Qatar University graduate. Dr. Al Romaihi brings 24 years of experience in K-12 education within the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar Foundation schools, starting as a homeroom teacher, then serving in curriculum coordination, and school management until she was promoted to a school Director in 2019.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English language teaching from Qatar University in 2000 and obtained a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Qatar University in 2009. Dr. Al Romaihi holds a Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California in 2023 in Global Education. Her thesis is titled “Dual Language Programs at Qatar Foundation Schools: Examining Teachers’ Perspectives”.
