Muslim Women’s Lives and Histories

Muslim Women’s Lives and Histories

The Muslim Women’s Lives and Histories research area supports research about how women have lived, individually and collectively, throughout Muslim history, while also generating new frameworks and paradigms to think about questions of agency and participation. Exploring Muslim women’s histories, spaces, practices, and contributions enriches our understanding of the shared and diverse aspects of their lives across time and space.

Unearthing these resources from the Muslim past is not only an act of recovery, but also a means of sparking dialogue about women’s present realities in families, collectives, and communities, and of inspiring visions for possible futures rooted in rich and varied pasts.
