The Al-Mujadilah Center & Mosque for Women, located in Qatar Foundation’s Education City, has been named the winner of the Middle East Awards 2025 by The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The announcement was made during Dubai Design Week 2025, marking a historic milestone as the first time RIBA’s international awards programme has officially extended to the Middle East.
The awards celebrate projects that demonstrate excellence in design while emphasizing sustainability, heritage preservation, and community impact. Al-Mujadilah Center & Mosque for Women stood out for its innovative architecture, functional design, and commitment to creating an inclusive space that meets the spiritual and social needs of women.
RIBA’s recognition highlights the evolving architectural landscape in the Middle East and underscores the region’s growing significance on the global design stage. In total, 15 projects from across the region were celebrated for their contribution to creating sustainable, culturally meaningful, and socially impactful architecture.
The award-winning mosque, situated in the vibrant hub of Education City, reflects Qatar’s vision of combining modernity with respect for heritage, providing women with a dedicated space for spiritual, educational, and community activities.
Architects and urban planners at the event praised the project for its integration of thoughtful design, cultural relevance, and innovative construction techniques, positioning it as a leading example of forward-thinking architecture in the region.
