The Surahs of the Qur’an encompass diverse modes of discourse, and each Surah addresses a range of themes and issues that, taken together, fall within the domains of rulings and the narratives that affirm and reinforce those rulings. These rulings include various forms of practical and theoretical evaluation—juridical, theological, historical, and ethical. Collectively, they are situated within a teleological moral perspective: they serve as guidance, counsel, lessons, and admonitions for human beings, so that they may reflect upon its verses and act in accordance with the insights to which their reflection leads them.
In this third part of this course, we begin where the second part concluded. Starting with Surah al-Kahf, we will contemplate the overall structure of the Qur’an, examining each Surah individually in order to identify its principal themes and then determine its central purpose in relation to those themes and topics. Ultimately, this process will enable us to discern the overarching objectives of Qur’anic discourse, in the hope that such reflection will inspire us to act upon its guidance to the best of our ability.
Each lecture lasts two hours. It begins with recitation of the opening verses of a Surah, followed by an analytical discussion. The instructor then presents an interpretation of the Surah, explaining its central purpose and the methodological approaches through which that purpose has been identified.
Growing with the Qur’an (Beginner Level) is designed for young learners (aged 7-10 years) at the early stages of their Qur’anic journey. The program offers a holistic Qur’anic learning experience that nurtures understanding, love, and connection with the Book of Allah. Participants will focus on memorizing Surah Ad-Duha and ending with Surah Al-Buruj with an emphasis on consistant memorization and revision.
Each class blends strengthening Tilawah and correct pronunciation, exploring selected Surahs through stories and meanings, and engaging in some elements of Tadabbur to help students understand the messages of the Qur’an. The program also weaves in Prophetic values, character-building lessons, and simplified explanations to deepen understanding, alongside foundational Qur’anic reading skills through the Noorani Qaida.
With small class sizes (totalling 12 students) and a halaqah-style format, every student participates, asks questions, and learns in a supportive environment tailored to their level.

In Islamic tradition, physical health has been closely intertwined with mental health. The most prominent testimony to this connection is the book Masalih al Abdan wa al Anfus (The Sustenance of Bodies and Souls) by Abū Zayd al Balkhī, (d. 322 AH/943 CE). It is the first work to move the discussion of the human soul from the realm of philosophy and ethics into the domain of medicine and applied sciences, presenting an Islamic model of preventive healthcare that encompasses the soul, the body, the environment, and ethics. The first to bring this scientific legacy to light in modern times was Dr. Mahmoud Masri, through his contemporary critical edition of the book published by the World Health Organization. His work combines his research specialization in the history of science with his professional expertise in medicine. This reading of Masalih al Abdan wa al Anfus aims to explore the benefits of this valuable work and its contemporary applications. The program is based on textual readings of selected passages, followed by analytical explanation, comparisons with modern knowledge in the fields of mental and physical health, as well as related social and environmental sciences, and a summary of practical applications.
This program is part of Al-Mujadilah’s strategic theme on the Islamic social vision. It consists of 40 online sessions, beginning with 13 this year and continuing through next year.
This four-session program offers an integrated Islamic framework for cultivating character as a path to psychological well-being and resilience. Drawing on classical Islamic scholarship alongside contemporary research in psychology, the program introduces the Traditional Islamic Virtues (TIV), a structured map of over thirty virtues organized under five cardinal categories: Wisdom, Valor, Temperance, Justice, and Spirituality. Participants are guided through a four-stage developmental model: self-awareness (inkishāf), learning, habituation, and self-evaluation (muḥāsaba).
By the end of the series, each participant will have identified a target virtue, mapped its personal terrain, and built a concrete eight-step regimen anchored in scripture and behavioral practice for cultivating identified virtues beyond the workshop series.

Register now for level three of this special linear program that focuses on developing the cognitive skills for non-native speakers of Arabic to help them read, understand, and synthesize the language of the Holy Qur’an while minimizing their dependence on translation. It is delivered through a substantially applied approach whereby Arabic vocabulary and grammar which participants are introduced to are reinforced by practical examples that come exclusively from the Qur’an. Participants are offered hands-on sessions for discussing, analyzing, and comprehending the verses of the Qur’an; understanding the functional and pragmatic meanings of different Qura’nic structures; and understanding denotative versus metaphorical meanings of vocabulary items and idiomatic expressions to enhance comprehension. The goal is to help participants approach entire suras, or stretches of surahs, in Arabic and be able to cognitively process them. Participants are also trained to use online resources that further help them with proper pronunciation and clear understanding of the Holy Qur’an.
