The Path You Pursue

An interactive workshop for young Muslim women navigating university, career choices, and an uncertain future.

About the program

Join us in this interactive workshop for young Muslim women navigating university, career choices, and an uncertain future. The workshop brings together self-understanding, practical career reflection, and a strong foundation of faith to explore what it means to pursue purposeful efforts while recognizing that outcomes are not ours to control. Through individual reflection, paired conversations, and group coaching, participants will explore their values, capabilities, and the internal obstacles that can shape their choices, while considering how to approach ambiguity, and a future shaped by AI with thoughtful action.

Workshop Outline

  • Striving - what is within our control — approaching career choices and an uncertain future through purposeful effort while recognizing the limits of what we can control.

  • Knowing ourselves before choosing direction — exploring values, capabilities, motivations, and the influences shaping university and career choices.

  • Recognizing what can get in the way — recognizing limiting beliefs, comparison, self-doubt, and other internal obstacles that can influence decisions and our relationship with achievement.

  • Moving without complete certainty — navigating decisions, rejection, changing labor markets, and AI while taking the available means and continuing to act.

  • Transferable skills — distinguishing credentials from capabilities and identifying transferable skills that retain value across different roles, workplaces, and stages of a career.

  • From action to Tawakkul — taking thoughtful actions, recognizing what remains outside our control, and developing a grounded approach to whatever outcome follows.

Learning Outcomes

  • Distinguish between what lies within our control and the interconnected relationship between faith and early-career decisions.

  • Develop greater self-awareness around their values, capabilities, motivations, and the influences shaping career choices.

  • Identify a more grounded relationship with achievement and capability, avoiding both self-diminishment and pride and understanding capability as an entrustment.

  • Approach ambiguity, changing labor markets and AI with greater clarity, focusing on preparedness, adaptability, and purposeful action rather than certainty.

  • Identify transferable skills that retain value across roles, industries, technologies, and different stages of a career.
