Setting the Heart Aright

A lecture exploring how the Qur’an can guide us toward the true source of tranquility, reordering what we strive for and what we entrust to Allah.

We spend much of our lives searching for happiness and peace of mind by changing our circumstances, increasing our provision, finding stability in our relationships, and achieving the things we hope for. Yet we eventually discover that the heart remains preoccupied, and that every wish we fulfill is followed by another wish. So how does the Qur’an guide us toward the true source of tranquility? How does it help us reorder what occupies our minds, what we fear, what we become attached to, what we strive for, and what we entrust to Allah? This lecture reflects on the profound meaning of Allah’s words: “And He set their affairs right.” (Qur’an 47:2). It explores how a person can navigate their responsibilities, relationships, and the ups and downs of life with a heart that is more peaceful and balanced—finding reassurance in Allah, even when not everything around them changes.
