Gender, Care, and Agency in Islamic Thought:

Rethinking Women’s Roles in Times of Displacement

This project examines the relationship between gender, agency, and community in the Qur’anic text and its interpretive traditions. Through a study of tafsīr (Qur’anic exegesis) on key verses concerning women and gender roles, it explores how different scholars have understood women’s participation, responsibility, and authority within the Muslim community.
